I just read somebody's blog, and that got me thinking. then i read through my own blog entries. True, my blog is mainly for me to rant and vent my frustrations, but as i read someone's blog, and later read through my own blog entries, this weird feeling came up again. its a mixture of remorse and a feeling of inability. I realise what i have done, was mainly to pin all the blame on other people and external factors for things that did not go well, rather than try to look for a solution which is beneficial to everybody.
if you read my previous entry, you would realise what im talking about. it was all about other people screwing me up, while i tried my best and put in a lot of effort for my work but nothing seems to go right. at times, i do my own self reflection. somehow, they did not last.
but jus now as i was reading that particular entry, it struck me on how the last person whom i would think to be a good leader can turn out to be a much better leader than myself in the aspect of problem solving. to a certain extent, i feel ashamed. ashamed of myself. i used to think so highly of my leadership ability, as in i always felt that when it came to leadership, i have something over most of the other people, due to my uniformed grp training. now, i have just been given a tight slap in the face. maybe im not such a splendid leader after all.
i read the entry, i thought about the problem presented. then i proceeded to think about how i would go about solving it. and as i read on, i realised how one presents the facts and the argument does really make a lot of difference. in a few short paragraphs, all the ingredients for success was covered. the common vision, the people, the group dynamics, the workflow and the processes. the common goal. diplomacy is really an art. sad to say, the lack of this particular art costs me the most in my tenure. it created unnecessary problems for me, on top of the ones i already have. it also shut a lot of doors for me, when i had to come up with solutions. maybe, just maybe, i have a lot to learn in terms of putting things across in a polite manner, and choice of words.
everyday is a new day. we learn something new everyday. lets hope that with each passing day, we learn something that will make us a better person.
